Ruby Pearce, MA, LMHC
Therapist

Children, Families, Individuals, Creative-Expressive Support Groups, Divorce Care

Focus:
My particular focus and background has been primarily with children age 3-12 and families; however, counseling issues stem frequently from unresolved childhood concerns making expressive therapy beneficial for all ages.

Approach:
I
utilize relational, creative and psychodynamic perspectives in my work with clients along with over 30 years experience helping people in a variety of settings including: individual, family and group counseling, classroom teaching, art clubs and workshops, church groups and camps. I have found that establishing a safe, caring and trusting relationship is a vital first priority. While counseling is often very helpful and gratifying, each person is unique and no specific guarantees can be made.

People naturally use body language, verbal expressions, lifestyle and recreational preferences to communicate desires or distress. Expressive materials as well as talk therapy will be available for your use as creative means for experiencing and expressing thoughts and sometimes very powerful and painful emotions. Our sessions will aim for you to safely identify, express, and work through difficult feelings and experiences in positive ways so you can “get on” with being the unique person you were meant to be.

Credentials:
I am a licensed mental health counselor with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Mars Hill Graduate School and a Bachelor of Liberal Studies: Concentration in Psychology and Art from Vermont College. Along with graduate studies, I completed a nine-month clinical internship with a children’s treatment program in Seattle and worked for an additional year and half at an outpatient counseling center with children and families. For the past 5 years, I have had the unique privilege of expert supervision and consultation in family art psychotherapy by 35-year veteran art therapist and published author Maxine Borowsky Junge PhD, LCSW, ATR-BC, HLM. Dr. Borowsky Junge previously directed the Marital and Family Art Therapy Graduate program at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles and brings a wealth of valuable insight to my current caseload.
